Understanding the treatment

All-on-4 Implants: what it involves and who it is for

What is All-on-4?

All-on-4 is a technique for patients who are edentulous (without teeth) or at risk of losing all their teeth. A fixed prosthesis replacing the entire dental arch is supported by just four implants, placed at selected points in the jawbone. Similar to the All-on-6 method, it offers a more stable, aesthetic and functional solution than a removable denture: the prosthesis is fixed to the implants and does not come out.

  • A full arch on 4 implants
  • Fixed prosthesis that does not come out
  • Fewer implants than All-on-6
  • Titanium implants

Who is it for?

  • Fully edentulous patients (no teeth at all)
  • Risk of losing all teeth (advanced decay, fractures, gum disease)
  • Difficulties or dissatisfaction with a removable denture
  • Enough bone volume, or eligibility for a bone graft
Options

Possible solutions

The choice is made with the dentist, based on the examination and your expectations.

  • All-on-4

Four implants per arch and a full fixed prosthesis. Fewer implants, which can be a financial advantage.

  • All-on-6

Six implants per arch. The choice between four and six implants depends on bone volume and quality, assessed with a 3D scan.

  • Removable denture on implants

If a fixed solution is not wanted or not possible, a full denture clipped onto 2 or 4 implants can be considered.

Materials and technology

How the treatment is prepared

  • 3D scan (CT)

X-rays and 3D CT imaging are used to assess the structure of the jawbone and plan the position of the four implants.

  • Titanium implants

Four titanium implants, placed at selected points in the jaw, provide a solid base for the fixed prosthesis.

  • Ceramic or zirconia prosthesis

The final prosthesis is custom-made in ceramic or zirconia, in harmony with your facial features and the smile you want.

Steps

How the treatment unfolds

Durations are indicative; your schedule is set after the examination.

  1. Before travelling

    1. Remote pre-assessment

You send photos of your smile and, if you have one, a recent X-ray. A dentist replies with an initial opinion, the possible options and any questions to clarify. The final plan is only drawn up after the examination at the clinic.

  2. 1st stay

    2. Consultation and planning

Detailed examination, X-rays and a 3D scan to assess the jawbone and draw up a personalised treatment plan.

  3. 1st stay

    3. Implant placement

Under local anaesthesia or sedation, four titanium implants are placed at selected points in the jawbone.

  4. Depending on the case, the same day

    4. Temporary prosthesis

A temporary prosthesis is fitted after implant placement — in some cases the same day — for comfort and appearance during healing.

  5. Usually 2 to 4 months

    5. Osseointegration

The implants fuse with the jawbone. You wear the temporary prosthesis during this period.

  6. 2nd stay

    6. Final prosthesis

Once healing is complete, a custom-made permanent prosthesis in ceramic or zirconia is fixed onto the implants.

  7. Before departure

    7. Check-up and follow-up

A check-up appointment is scheduled before you leave. Afterwards, the team remains available for your questions, and regular check-ups with a dentist are recommended.

Benefits

What this treatment can offer

  • Fewer implants

Compared with All-on-6, using fewer implants can be a financial advantage.

  • Teeth from placement, depending on the case

In some cases, the implants and the temporary prosthesis can be placed on the same day.

  • Fixed and stable

Unlike a removable denture, All-on-4 provides a fixed, secure fit.

  • Natural look

The prosthesis is custom-designed to harmonise with your facial features and the smile you want.

  • Chewing and speech

Chew and speak more comfortably than with a removable denture.

  • Bone preservation

Implants stimulate the jawbone, which helps limit bone loss.

Health information

What to know before deciding

Risks and points to consider

  • As after any surgery, swelling, bruising or pain may occur in the first few days.
  • There must be enough bone; otherwise a bone graft may be needed, which changes the timeline.
  • During osseointegration, the temporary prosthesis requires a softer diet.
  • Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes or poor hygiene increase the risk of failure or inflammation around the implants.
  • Whether the treatment is suitable depends on your oral and general health; this can only be confirmed after a clinical and X-ray examination.
  • Tell the dentist about any medication, allergies and health conditions (diabetes, bleeding disorders, smoking…): they can change the plan or affect healing.

Aftercare

  • Soft food for the first weeks, following the instructions given for the temporary prosthesis.
  • Clean under the prosthesis every day with interdental brushes or a water flosser.
  • Avoid smoking during healing.
  • Follow the written instructions given by the dentist and contact the team if you have any doubts.
  • Brush twice a day, use floss or interdental brushes, and plan regular check-ups with a dentist.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about this treatment

  • All-on-4 or All-on-6: which to choose?

Both replace a whole arch with a fixed prosthesis. All-on-4 uses four implants, which can reduce the cost; All-on-6 uses six. The choice mainly depends on bone volume and quality, assessed with a 3D scan, and is made with the dentist.
  • Will I leave with teeth?

A temporary prosthesis is fitted after the implants, in some cases the same day. It is worn during healing, until the final prosthesis is fitted.
  • How long until the final prosthesis?

Osseointegration usually takes 2 to 4 months. The final ceramic or zirconia prosthesis is fitted once healing is complete, during a second stay.
  • What if I do not have enough bone?

All-on-4 requires sufficient bone volume; otherwise, a bone graft may be proposed. The 3D scan makes it possible to check this before any decision.
  • Is the procedure done under anaesthesia?

Yes, the implants are placed under local anaesthesia or sedation, depending on the case and after discussion with the dentist. Local anaesthesia is included in the quote.
  • How much does All-on-4 cost in Turkey?

As a guide, the bar prosthesis screwed onto 4 implants costs 1 500 € per arch, plus the four implants (350 € to 650 € each depending on the brand). Preliminary treatment (extractions, bone graft) may be needed: the final price is set out in your quote, drawn up after the clinical examination and X-ray.
  • What is included in the quote?

The quote includes transfers (airport, hotel, clinic), the panoramic X-ray and diagnosis, local anaesthesia and the necessary medication. The hotel is also included above a certain quote amount; the conditions are set out on the Prices page.
